The PS3 and Xbox 360 is basically the same console with different features. Xbox 360 might have more player due to it release date, and most youtube commentator is on the Xbox 360. Most of the popular games out there is usually release on both console so as far as gaming goes, it the same , and plus you don't have to pay for online. Sure sure it only $60 dollar a year but why waste $60 if you can save it? In addition, the PS3 have a fully functional browser and a blue-ray player. One thing I think the PS3 lack is the Xbox "Party Chat", with it, friend can communicate across games. In another words, PS3 is a much more simpler console that will provide you the same or better experiences as the Xbox would .

But overall, the PS3 has more stuff, such as the blu-ray which saved us $200 from buying a blu-ray player.
Plus, I really hate pay monthly fee to play online even if it is a little better, but I like to play online for free.

They both have good exclusives. PS3 has Uncharted, Killzone, and Infamous. Xbox 360 has Halo and Gears of War.
Xbox 360 has much more online play options. Party chat is fantastic and is supported by many games. It's possible for me to be playing Ground War on Modern Warfare 2 and having a discussion with 2 of my friends who are currently playing Assassin's Creed and Halo. Of course, that comes at a price of $50 a year.
However, what I always say is that both are fantastic entertainment systems, and they are just too good to say that one is definitely better than the other. So basically if the majority of your friends play Xbox, get an Xbox. If the majority play PS3, get a PS3. Personally I would actually rather have a PS3. But at the same time I would rather play with the overwhelming majority of my friends, so it's Xbox for me. Though I do wish I would get to enjoy titles such as Metal Gear Solid 4, I still enjoy my 360 very much.

No.. in that case you would get whichever one you have a personal preference towards. But if you're borderline and have friends that play video games, might as well pick the one that you'll be able to play with them online with.

Regarding the game systems, I haven't kept up with the games or the consoles or anything, but in my mind the Xbox still dominates (that's what my friends still discuss).
